Cabo Girão: the glass skywalk 580 metres above the ocean
One of Europe's highest sea cliffs, about 20 minutes' drive from Funchal.
Madeira has so much to offer, and the best way to discover it is by car, at your own pace. We always tell customers where to go, and we love hearing about the places they found.
Cabo Girão
Not far from Funchal and easy to find, Cabo Girão is one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe, 580 metres above the ocean. It has panoramic views of the Atlantic, the coast and the mountains.
At the top there is a glass platform suspended over the cliff edge. Standing on it, you look straight down to the ocean 580 metres below.
Getting there
The drive from the main hotels in Funchal takes about 20 minutes, so it is an easy trip for your first day with the car. Highly recommended.
